Dorothy L. Slavens, 81 of Indianapolis passed away January 31, 2010. Born Dorothy McClelland, Sept. 11, 1928 in Brazil, IN. She moved to Indianapolis in 1968. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Lem and Zena (Cofer) McClelland. She was a loving mother, and grandmother. Dorothy was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Christian Fellowship in Greenwood, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn Slavens,; infant daughter, Carolyn Sue, 3 sisters and 5 brothers. Survivors include two daughters, Norma Jean (Bill) Megenhardt, Zena (Steve) Riddell; 4 sons, Kenny White, John (Sarah) Slavens, Ricky (Brenda) Slavens, Billy Slavens; 23 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren 3 great great grandchildren as well as numerous other extended family members. Services are 11am Thursday, February 4, 2010 at the Usher Funeral Home. Burial will follow in New Crown Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
