Ruby J. Uhls Swiergiel, 78 of Indianapolis passed away September 14, 2009. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Swiergiel and her daughter, Regina Swiergiel and her brother, Hugh Uhls. Mrs. Swiergiel retired from the United States Postal Service after 38 years of service. While at the post office she had worked as a letter carrier and a postal clerk. Previous to her time at the post office she had worked for RCA Corporation and for Maplehurst Dairy. She was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Ruby is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Eric) Geisler, Theresa Long, Jennifer (Robert) McGrapth, and Gretchen Swiergiel; sisters, Leanna Woodley and Rita Brinegar; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Services for Ruby are 10am Friday, September 18, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Floral Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8pm Thursday at the Usher Funeral Home.
